Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx is the president-in-waiting for the 2015 State of the Union, a White House official confirmed.
Foxx is the designated survivor, a member of cabinet that does not attend the speech but waits in an undisclosed location to assume the presidency if there is a catastrophic attack on the Capitol.

The paper also reported he was the first African-American student body president at his alma mater, Davidson College.
He was confirmed unanimously by the Senate only two months after being nominated by the president.
