Animal on the Loose in France Isn't a Tiger, After All

WATCH: Large Animal on Loose Outside Paris

That "tiger" on the loose in France isn't a tiger, after all.

“The presence of an animal of the tiger species is now ruled out,” authorities in Seine-et-Marne, France, said in a news release today.

That conclusion was reached as experts studied and tracked the large cat.

The large animal -- whatever species it is -- is still being sought.

Thursday, Seine-et-Marne’s deputy chief of police sounded definitive about the species.

“It’s a tiger, for sure, a dangerous animal,” Pierre-Emmanuel Portheret said.

Residents have been asked to stay indoors while officials search for the apparent feline near Paris.
