Women, listen up. Did you know that your diet can help with symptoms of menopause? A recent study found that 88% of women reported that switching to plant-based eating significantly improved their menopause symptoms.
Registered dietitian, nutritionist and author Maya Feller dropped by "GMA3" to cook up some dishes that could help ease those symptoms.
Ingredients:
1 tsp. cumin seeds
1 tsp. ground turmeric
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/4 cup low sodium vegetable broth
1 onion, diced
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 tomato, roughly chopped
1 serrano pepper, seeded and diced
1 cup of lite coconut milk
3 cups of water
Directions:
Heat a heavy-bottomed pot, and add cumin, turmeric, and black pepper. Stir for two minutes. Add broth, onion, garlic, tomato and serrano and cook for 3-5 minutes. Add lentils, coconut milk, and water and cook for 20-30 minutes. Serve with black or wild rice.
Cook one 10-14 ounce bag of frozen edamame to package instructions and toss with 1 tbsp. of 5 spice.
Cook your favorite Miso Soup recipe or get store bought, add in 1/2 cup or a handful of shelled edamame to one bowl of soup.
