A partridge in a pear tree may be the final gift sung in the "12 Days of Christmas," but it's also our final cookie of the "Good Morning America" countdown.
And who better to whip up a delicious dessert to go with the theme than chef Millie Peartree.
The recipe developer shared her simple and sweet recipe for oatmeal cookies with pears and cinnamon.
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1 cup unsalted butter (room temp)
2 eggs (room temp)
3 cups oatmeal
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups chopped pears (fresh or canned)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups AP flour ( tips use unbleached for a chewer cookie)
Sugar for the top
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Cream butter and brown and granulated sugar mixing down sides.
Beat in eggs one at a time. Add vanilla extract. Mix until combined.
Combine flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon; stir into the creamed mixture. Mix in the oats. Cover and chill dough for at least an hour.
Drop by teaspoons-full or scoop-full onto greased cookie sheets.
Sprinkle cookies with sugar on top.
Baked 8 to10 minutes. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
