"Don't be stupid," he told "Extra" Monday. "I think that anybody that gets married is partaking in an act of bravery."
How Tom Hanks Invited Oscar-Winning Director to 'Discover' Him When He Was a Teen 'Girls' Star Allison Williams Marries Ricky Van Veen in Secret Ceremony Rita Wilson Says She 'Won' Her Cancer BattleHanks, who married Wilson in 1988, calls himself "a lucky man."
Asked how his wife is doing since her double mastectomy for breast cancer, Hanks replied, "Her health is fantastic. She took on not only the crisis, but also the issues of women's cancers in a way that I thought was extremely brave and beautiful. I'm glad we're not in high school, because I wouldn't have the courage to talk to her in the hallway."
Hanks is not only dispensing marriage advice but he's officiating marriages, too.
The 59-year-old Oscar winner recently officiated "Girls" star Allison Williams' nuptials to entrepreneur Ricky Van Veen. Wilson, who plays Williams’ mother on “Girls,” reportedly watched from the audience.
"Well, here's what I did –- I studied the ministry for over $35," Hanks revealed to "Extra." "And if you want to call me the Right Reverend Tom Hanks, I think you should.”
And if you want Hanks to officiate your marriage, he said, "I'm for rent. If you can afford the honorarium, I'll be there for ya."
