Taylor Lautner was a hero and heartthrob as Jacob Black, the hunky werewolf in the “Twilight” movie franchise, but now the actor is cutting his teeth on comedy.
Lautner, 24, is heading to the Netflix series “Cuckoo," where he'll replace departing actor Andy Samberg as leading man. Lautner will play Dale, Samberg’s long-lost son and a former cult member who moves in with his father’s British in-laws.
In an interview with “GMA”s’s Jesse Palmer, Taylor explained what drew him to the British comedy. “In my head it kind of made no sense and that’s why it made perfect sense,” he said, laughing.
'Twilight' Characters Swap Genders in 10th Anniversary Bonus: 'Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined'Palmer asked whether Lautner had noticed any nuances between comedies produced in Britain and the United States.
“Well it took me a second to get used to their sort of humor,” he said of British comedy. “It's a little more sarcastic, a little more dry.”
And when he was asked whether he worried about being pigeonholed, following his “Twilight” role, Lautner said, “That's kind of why I want to choose things that are different.”
And an added bonus for Lautner? The role will allow him to use his martial arts background.
