Shaquille O'Neal pays off man's engagement ring: 'I'm into making people happy'

Shaquille O'Neal is a big guy with a big heart to match.

The NBA alum was recently shopping for a pair of earrings when he noticed a young man agonizing over how to finance an engagement ring for his girlfriend. So the 7-foot-1 basketball legend paid it off himself.

The generous act was even caught on video.

"I seen the guy come in -- he was just so shy," Shaq explained during an NBA postgame show. "He was saying, 'Hey, how much do I owe to pay off my ring.'"

"And I was like, 'My man, how much is the ring?' I'm not going to say the amount, but it's not a lot for me," he added.

Shaq then pulled out his credit card and paid for it right on the spot.

"I'm into making people happy," the Olympic gold medalist said. "I'm just trying to make people smile ... That's all."
