Country singer Scotty McCreery stopped a recent show to have a concertgoer removed from the audience.
The "American Idol" season 10 winner was singing his hit song "It Matters to Her" at the Colorado State Fair over the weekend when he took a pause after spotting a man in the crowd allegedly assaulting a woman.
Who won 'American Idol'? Full list of former winners and runners-up"Right here, right here. That's a lady you just hit, sir. Police? Security? Is she OK?" he said from the stage, adding, "Get the heck out of here."
"On God's green earth. At a Scotty McCreery show? What are you doing?" McCreery continued. "Y'all let the cop know who hit the lady because that's absolutely unacceptable."
After the man was escorted out, McCreery resumed the show -- but not without making his stance clear.
"Whoever you are, that is the definition of a coward, hitting a lady," he said. "If we're all set, let's get on back with the show."
In a statement, the Colorado Department of Agriculture addressed the alleged assault.
"We can confirm that an incident took place at the Scotty McCreery concert where a man assaulted a woman and the performer stopped the show."
The incident is still under investigation and officials have not yet released the man's name or said if he was arrested.
