The photo designed to "break the Internet" was apparently Kim Kardashian's idea.
Mickey Boardman, editorial director of Paper Magazine, told Yahoo! Style "Kim’s attitude was, ‘If we’re gonna do it, let’s really go there.’"
He continued, "And it was her idea to take off her clothes and show more than her butt. But we didn’t say, ‘Let’s do a cover with your butt hanging out.’ She said she was willing to take her clothes off and one thing led to another.”
What You'll Learn from the Kim Kardashian Paper Article Kim Kardashian Leaves Little to Imagination in Raciest Magazine Cover Yet Kim Kardashian Bares Plenty in Sexy Bikini SelfieThe magazine Wednesday night posted two more revealing photos from the shoot.
In one, she is fully naked, showing everything from the front.
"We know you came for the article. @kimkardashian shot by #JeanPaulGoude for our #BreakTheInternet issue. Click for the #NSFW image in our bio," the mag posted on Instagram.
There's another photo where she poses from the side and shows off her butt a little, too.
But it was the photo from Wednesday that completely shows her backside that got the Internet buzzing.
As for any retouching to the photos, the Paper mag chief says there was "much less [retouching] than people think. That’s really what she looks like. That’s her. I would say it’s the normal amount of retouching that’s on a normal cover.”
A lot was also made about the shininess and oil on her butt.
“It was the makeup artist," who put the oil on, Boardman said. "It was someone who she works with a lot so she felt comfortable."
