Jonah Hill says he limits time on Instagram, likens social media to smoking

What do Instagram and smoking have in common? According to Jonah Hill, they are each the killers of time.

Hill unleashed his theory while explaining his relationship with social media in a cover story interview with GQ.

"So, Instagram. Instagram -- as I smoke a cigarette -- is the cigarettes of this time. It is the biggest killer," the 37-year-old actor said. "It is death. And I fully participate in it, like I smoke cigarettes."

"Again, it's a spectrum of what you find healthy," he continued. "I have to have really limited interaction with it."

For those who still partake in Instagram, the two-time Oscar nominee said he isn't "dissing anybody."

"I'll post a selfie on Instagram. I don't give a f---. I'm just as hypocritical as everybody else," he explained. "So the point being is it's all maybe a work in progress to get towards happiness."

Hill also shared a story of how Geoff, his late 92-year-old neighbor, helped him understand that the key to happiness in life is not caring about what other people think.

"I said, 'What's the deal, man? You're the happiest guy I've ever seen in my life. Why are you so f------ happy?'" the "Superbad" star recalled. "And he's like, 'I don't look around at what anybody else is doing. I just live my life, and I don't look at what other people are doing.'"

The answer inspired him so much that he now calls Geoff his hero "because this guy lived happy, not giving a f--- about the stupid rat race, and then died at 92 at the beach."
