Ice Cube Said He's 'Not Surprised' 'Straight Outta Compton' Didn't Get More Oscar Nominations

Ice Cube admitted Thursday that he thought his film, "Straight Outta Compton," would get more Oscar nominations, but he isn't upset about the snub.

The 2015 film, centered on the rapper's experience as a member of Compton-based rap group N.W.A., was nominated for Best Original Screenplay. Cube served as a producer for the film.

"I'm not pissed. You know, I'm not surprised," he said on "The Wendy Williams Show." "It's the Oscars, they do what they do. The people loved the movie, the people supported the movie -- No. 1 at the box office, over $200 million worldwide. I can't be mad, you know."

Instead, Cube said he'll look forward to N.W.A.'s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 8.

"It is nice to be recognized but N.W.A., you know, was anti-establishment, so we're used to people trying to dismiss what we gotta say," he told host Wendy Williams of the recognition. "We're used to the industry, really, you know, looking down on us. We were the black sheep of the industry, so we're used to it."
