Harry Styles' Vogue cover, which features him wearing a Gucci gown, has garnered some criticism, but Styles has never been one to abide by by sartorial rules.
Now, his mother is taking some of the credit for her famous son's fashion fearlessness.
Appearing on the U.K. talk show "Lorraine," Styles' mom, Anne Twist, was asked about the Vogue spread, which also features the singer's sister, Gemma.

In the Vogue article, Styles confirmed his mother's assertion.

Once, he said, he got to dress up as a mouse in a school play, and the experience left a lasting impression.
"I was really young, and I wore tights for that," he recalled. "I remember it was crazy to me that I was wearing a pair of tights. And that was maybe where it all kicked off!"
