WATCH: Emmy awards shockers
The 2019 Emmys were certainly one for the books, with "Game of Thrones" going out with a bang.
The HBO series won 12 awards, more than any other, including one of the biggest of the night: best drama series. Peter Dinklage also won best supporting actor for his role as Tyrion Lannister.
Behind "Game of Thrones" was "Chernobyl," with 10 Emmys, and then Amazon's "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," with eight.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge had a huge night, winning multiple awards for her work on "Fleabag," which took home six honors, including best comedy series. Most notably, Waller-Bridge upset "Veep" star Julia Louis-Dreyfus for best actress in a comedy series. "Veep," which also ended this year, was shut out.

Meanwhile, "Pose" star Billy Porter made history as the first openly gay black man to win the Emmy for outstanding lead actor in a drama series.
"I'm overwhelmed and overjoyed to live long enough to see this day," he said about winning for a show that educates and entertains the world about the culture and history of drag and trans people.
