Christie Brinkley is happy to be alive 25 years after a horrifying helicopter accident during which she thought she would die.

The supermodel and businesswoman posted a picture on Instagram of the People magazine cover from 1994, which showed an image of her and detailed the crash inside.

"This happened 25 years ago today and not a day goes by that I have not counted my blessing for being alive. I know for a fact that tomorrow is not a guarantee and that each day is a gift and an opportunity to make sure that everybody we love knows it!" she wrote.

Brinkley and five others were involved in the crash in 1994 near Telluride, Colorado. The group was heli-skiing more than 12,000 feet in the air when the helicopter began to crash after taking a sharp turn.

"Just boom, boom, boom, pow!” Brinkley told People in 1994. The fall was so abrupt that she thought, "I am going to die. Right now? Like this? A ski trip? Today?”

Brinkley fell out of the helicopter and onto the snow, injuring her wrist, but surviving. The others also fell out onto the snow with similar injuries, but no fatalities.

Brinkley said at the time, the incident solidified her love for life and her family.

"Maybe I will just simplify my life,” she said. "Maybe I’ll have the patience to be a better mom."
