'Bachelorette' alum Ali Fedotowsky reveals she suffered a miscarriage

Ali Fedotowsky shared the heartbreaking news that she recently suffered a miscarriage.

The former lead of ABC's "The Bachelorette," opened up about the personal moment in a lengthy Instagram post on Tuesday. "I am 1 in 4," she wrote. "I don’t really know what to say here...I had a miscarriage recently,"

Accompanying the post was a photo of a light pink bouquet of roses and an image "sending love to those who have suffered" different types of loss both during and after pregnancy.

Fedotowsky described her emotions in her post and expressed why she wanted to open up about her miscarriage. "I’m not sharing this bc I feel sorry for myself or I want others to tell me they feel sorry for me," she wrote. "I don’t feel sorry for myself. I feel sad for what could’ve been. Sad for the baby that was growing inside me. Sad because it’s sad."

She said she wanted to write about her experience because she thinks "it’s important" and because she's seen social media transform into a place where "people share the good & the bad - the smiles & the tears."

Before going into more detail in the post about her loss, she included a trigger warning that the information might be "difficult to read" for many.

The 35-year-old then detailed the moment when she realized she was having the miscarriage. She recalled "intense cramping" early one morning and being in "complete shock."

"I sat and stared at it for hours - not able to fully comprehend what happened," she wrote.

She ended the post with a reminder to her followers that, "We all go through different emotions & process the loss differently... So know that if you’re going or have gone through this, your feelings are valid - whatever they may be."

Fedotowsky is currently married to Kevin Manno and they have two children together -- 4-year-old daughter Molly and 2-year-old son Riley.
